On Saturday, former San Francisco Giants slugger and baseball great Barry Bonds helped hand out boxes of food at the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank and made a large financial contribution to the organization.
Bonds joined about a dozen volunteers to hand out large boxes of goods to people who waited in line at the drive-thru event.

Wearing a thick face mask, the slugger told KCBS Radio that he’s very sensitive to the pain people are going through right now.
“Physically, mentally, emotionally,” Bonds said. “If we can do our part, that’s what we’re happy about doing.”
Marie, a food bank volunteer, said she hopes Bonds’ efforts will attract more helpers.
“I think it’s super exciting,” she added. “We can use all the support and all the exposure we can get.”
Rajan Dev, vice president of development at the food bank, said it’s wonderful to have someone as prominent as Bonds participate.
“It’s symbolic of the greater recognition out there in the community of needs in the community, and indicative of the outpouring of generosity that we have seen from the community in general,” he added.
Bonds also dropped off a donation of $10,000 to the organization.
